CenterWatch features Cetero Research in CW Weekly
Boston, Massachusetts (February 12, 2007)
—The recent union of PRACS Institute, Ltd, Gateway Medical Research and Ba Research International as Cetero Research, has prompted many to look at this contract research organization.
With Cetero’s industry leading bed capacity, available validated assays, clinic locations, and growth possibilities, it seems as though this CRO has the possibility to have great impact on the early clinical research arena. Internationally known CW Weekly—a weekly publication that reports stories and breaking news in the clinical trials industry—recently interviewed Cetero’s CEO, Jerry Merritt, M.S., Pharm.D., and featured the company in their February 12 issue.
The interview allowed Dr. Merritt to speak about the offerings of Cetero Research as well as the early clinical research market. With 24 years of experience and expertise in Cardiac Safety studies, Integrated Bioequivalence studies, Bioanalysis, Labeling Support studies and Dermatology studies, Cetero is in a position to provide insight into the Pharma, Biotech and Generic trends.
“…I have seen many things change in the early clinical research arena. One thing that differentiates Cetero from other early phase CROs is our large capacity. Having 1,400 beds gives us flexibility in terms of scheduling studies for clients. In the early research arena, timing is critical. Having rapid access to bed space, being able to get your studies started quickly, conducted efficiently, analyzed quickly and then have the data integrated and a report prepared is of utmost importance to the clients. Cetero has the capacity, the assays and the scientific credibility to integrate the results, which distinguishes us from our competitors,” said Jerry Merritt, CEO of Cetero Research in the February 12, 2007 issue of CW Weekly.
Cetero Research, the leading provider of early clinical and bioanalytical services, is the union of PRACS Institute, Ltd., Gateway Medical Research and Ba Research International.
PRACS Institute was started in 1983 by James Carlson, Pharm.D., as a clinical research facility. Since that time PRACS has become a full-service contract research organization offering pre-clinical, clinical, bioanalytical and statistical research services to serve the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and skin care industries. PRACS has two clinic locations with more than 900 beds for study participants.
In July 2006, Gateway Medical Research was acquired. The company is also an early phase clinical testing facility which draws its study participants from the St. Louis metropolitan area. The company was founded in 1987 by Daniel R. Shipley. The 105,000 square foot facility can accommodate up to 520 study participants in 10 clinics.
Ba Research International provides bioanalytical, statistical, regulatory, and custom synthesis research services to the pharmaceutical industry. It was acquired by Paul Likhari in 1991. The company has lab facilities in Houston and Toronto and provides bioanalytical services to PRACS and Gateway Medical Research as well as pharmaceutical companies and other contract research organizations.
Founded in 1994, CenterWatch—a business of The Thomson Corporation—is a Boston-based publishing and information services company, which provides information services used by patients, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies, CROs and research centers involved in clinical research around the world. CenterWatch publishes a wide range of newsletters, books, directories and also provides market intelligence services and medical education solutions.
